Girvan FC progressed into the last 32 of The Scottish Junior Cup after a fine 5-2 away win against Blackburn United.

A hat-trick from David Cunningham and a goal apiece from Andy Stevenson and Jack McDowall sealed a fine victory.

This Saturday 26th November Girvan get back to league business, again away from home against Shettleston Juniors with a 1.45 pm kick off.

Against Blackburn Girvan were 1-0 up after five minutes play through David Cunningham who doubled his tally on 10 minutes.

United played their way back into the game and pulled a goal back after half an hour through James Mildren and had Martin Lawrie’s effort from distance found the net and hadn’t clattered back off the post soon thereafter then matters might have been very different.

However, Girvan were on scoring form and David Cunningham completed his hat-trick just before the break as Girvan went in 3-1 in front.

And things just got better for Girvan as just 30 seconds into the second half Andy Stevenson struck to give the visitors a three goal lead.

Andy McQuillan pulled a goal back for United who enjoyed a good spell of possession but another goal refused to come for the home side.

Girvan weren’t finished however and netted a fine fifth through Jack McDowall with just five minutes to go.
