Girvan athletes among prizes

TWO Girvan-based athletes were amongst the prizes at last weekend’s Stirling 10k road race, with Louise Hill-Stirling picking up top Junior prize again with a superb time of 39:18 and Kerry-Liam Wilson winning four prizes to go with his new personal best for the distance, 31:47. Louise, who has just returned from Albania where she represented Ireland in the World Hill Running Championships and is off again on international duty next weekend, this time to Wales for the British Hill Running Championship, took top female junior runner for the second time in three years.

Kerry-Liam earned himself 11 points for this season’s Scottish Athletics Road Race Grand Prix with a fantastic tenth-place finish in the race which secured him first V40 which doubles up as Scottish Athletics National V40 Champion.

Along with clubmates Chris Wilson (7th in 31:42) and Robert Gilroy (12th in 31:59), the trio picked up bronze medals in the team Championships.
