Girvan FC lost out 3-2 away to Annbank United in the Ayrshire District League on Saturday in a thrilling encounter.
The defeat means the seasiders slip to 10th in the league with nine games to go on 18 points.
Girvan were unlucky not to take the lead on 20 minutes as David McVittie saw his shot beat the keeper but rebound from the post.
However, just before the half hour mark the home side took the lead when a breakdown in the Girvan defence allowed Marc Logan to fire home.
Player manager Darren Mitchell drew Girvan just five minutes level after he got on the end of a McVittie cross but he was to see his side reduced to ten men before the break as Mark Doolan was sent off for a deliberate handball.
Scott McNamara then got the first of his double after the hour mark when he fired a low shot by Girvan goalkeeper David Markey. McNamara sealed three points for Annbank five minutes from the end with a similar goal before Jordan Ryan picked out Mitchell two minutes from the end who netted for his double.
Girvan have been drawn away to first division high flyers Beith in the quarter finals of the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup with a date for the tie to be confirmed.
The latest winner of the clubs 50/50 draw was Kay Wright who won £99.
