Girvan FC will need to try again this Saturday (January 25) after their Scottish Cup game against Rutherglen Glencairn was called off this weekend.
The fourth round tie was called off around 9.15 on Saturday morning after a pitch inspection early doors deemed the Hamilton Park playing surface unplayable due to being waterlogged.
Girvan were obviously keen to tackle themselves against their higher league opponents on a day when fellow Ayrshire sides Whitletts, Glenafton and Hurlford all made it through to the next round.
Girvan boss Alan Cotton told the Gazette last week that he believes Rutherglen are similar to Ashfield whom Girvan beat in the third round.
“We’ve done our homework and know what to expect. I feel they are similar to Ashfield in quality.
“Hopefully we can use the home advantage to its potential.”
Weather permitting, the game will be played at Hamilton Park on Saturday with a 1.45 kick off.
The latest winner of the clubs 50/50 draw was Robert McClelland who won £69.50
