Thursday night saw Girvan Girls play their third league game of the season at home and come away with an 11-2 win against Prestwick.

Girvan started off the game in great form and scored two goals just minutes into the start of the game (Rachael, Wee McD). Prestwick were struggling to cope with the fantastic passing play by Girvan and scored an OG to make it 3-0.

Prestwick found their feet again and scored two goals in succession. Again Girvan took control and scored a further two goals before the half time whistle (Kaylin, Tiny T).

Girvan’s defence in the second half were rock solid (Shannon, Hannah, Kaylin and Tiny) and blocked all play from the Prestwick strikers. Becky came out in top form and scored three goals one after the other, followed by Tiny with another two goals and Wee McD with 1 more. Girvan subs (Courtney and Ellie) came on in the second half and showed some impressive footwork which made the Girvan team all the stronger. Another strong performance from the Girvan Girls - keep up the good work.

On Saturday Victory Park was the venue again for Girvan youth girls against Irvine in the league again.

Irvine struggling for a team only had six players so Girvan in true sporting fashion decided to play with six players to keep it fair and even.

Girvan got off to a flyer with Hannah breaking out of defence and she fired a left foot blaster past the keeper.

Wee McD made it two soon after Rachel playing her in, and It was Rachel who got Girvans third skipping past two defenders and slotting home.

Tiny T playing in defence went on a maizy run which resulted in Girvans fourth, Hannah scored Girvans fifth with another smashing left foot drive, Becky got Girvan’s sixth before half time placing the ball into the corner.

At half time Girvan brought on Ellie and Courtney who made an immediate impact playing in Wee McD for her second of the game, Courtney now solid at the back was putting in crunching challenges to stop anything Irvine through at them and gave Shannon an easy time in goal.

Wee McD got her hat trick after Tiny was the provider but the cheer of the day went to Ellie after some really unselfish play from Rachel set Ellie up to score her first of the season and leave Girvan 9-0 winners.

Next Saturday Girvan are away to Hamilton Accies in the semi final of the league cup.
