Girvan golfers to the fore at Speakers Open

On Sunday 29th April, 104 competitors braved bitterly cold winds all day long during the Carrick Speakers Open held at Girvan Golf course.

As scores soared, two men rose to the challenge to claim the major prizes.

Steven Stamper of Girvan Golf Club shot a tremendous 70 to claim the Scratch Trophy and Paul McCluskey, also from Girvan, came in with a magnificent nett

63 to win the Carrick Sports Club Trophy.

Martin Lothian from Girvan was second with an excellent nett 64 with Harry McEwan in third with a nett 67 (bih). In his remarks, Club Captain, Les newlands, thanked South Ayrshire Council for the courtesy of the course, all sponsors, especially Carrick Sports Club and all members and committee of Carrick Speakers Golf Club for their contribution to a successful event.
