Girvan travel east to Edinburgh this Saturday to play Lothian Thistle in the second preliminary round of the Scottish Cup.
Thistle are members of the East of Scotland Football League and play in the Premier Division. They play their home matches at Saughton Enclosure in the Saughton area of the city
Girvan FC will be disappointed as they drew 2-2 away from home against Lugar Boswell Thistle last Saturday.
They were at one point leading 2-1 but failed to hold on to the lead.
Maybole have two home games this week starting tonight (Wednesday, September 2) with an Ardagh Glass league cup semi-final against Hurlford.
The match kicks off at 6.30pm and Maybole will be looking for a good result in this first leg tie.
On Saturday Maybole entertain Largs Thistle on West of Scotland league duty with a kick off at 2pm. Maybole are in good form in the league having overcome Cumbernauld United 5-1 away from home last week.
On Saturday Vale of Girvan were at home to premer league side Dirrans Athletic in the second round of the Ayrshire Amateur Cup, and came away iwth a stunning victory.
Early on in the first half good work from Darren Henderson down the left holding the ball up and then playing it into the path of Gap who side footed it low into the corner to make it 1-0.
In the 25th minute Dirrans scored a good goal well-worked goal from a soft free kick just outside the box.
The winner though came two minutes from time from Bob Ashworth who was put clear by Darren Henderson. Ash still had it all to do but kept his cool to slot home with only two minutes on the clock.
It was a great result for Girvan who always looked good to win.
