Girvan got a great result in their first league game of the season on Saturday.

The newly promoted side travelled to Shotts to play Shotts Bon Accord in the Super League First Division and came home with all three points.

A Tony Murphy double and a third from Robert Patterson gave Girvan a 3-1 victory.

Girvan went out of the Ardagh Cup at the quarter final stage last Wednesday night after a 3-2 away defeat to Cumnock Juniors. With the scoreline blank at half time Girvan took the lead five minutes into the second half. It took Cumnock 15 minutes to get back into the game with a penalty but three minutes later they were in the lead and added a third soon after. Girvan got a goal back five minutes from time.
