After “four seasons in one day” at the Carrick Speakers Golf Club Open at Girvan golf course on Sunday 26th April, two worthy winners emerged from 64 hardy competitors. M Cabena of Ardeer GC, with a truly magnificent nett 61, triumphed in the Carrick Sports Trophy (handicap) competition in conditions which, at best, could be described as trying - sunshine mixed with hail, driven by a strong bitingly cold wind. In close pursuit were D Hill, nett 63, and R McLeish, nett 62, both of Girvan GC.

The Scratch Trophy was won by Ian McKenzie of Annanhill GC with a remarkable 68, making up for his second place in 2014.

In his closing remarks, Carrick Speakers GC Captain, Les Newlands, thanked South Ayrshire Council for granting the club courtesy of the course without which the open would not be possible. He thanked, too, all sponsors both individual and corporate, including Carrick Sports Club, for their valuable contributions to a very successful day with perhaps a special mention for Trump Turnberry for a very generous prize of a round for two on the Kintyre course.
