In the final between stablemates Athletic A and Athletic B it was the auld heids of Athletic A who somehow won the cup.
Athletic B were ahead the whole game but couldn’t shake off their fierce rivals and eventually found the game tied at 5-5 and in need of the dreaded 1001 play off.
The B team had nine darts to win the cup but couldn’t hit that winning double and it was Stuart McCreadie who stepped up to hit the winning dart and give captain courageous Coco his last piece of silverware in his final game for Athletic A, which completed the double having already won the league.
The royal will play Boars in the Consolation final after both won through on Monday night.
Girvan pair Steve Robertson and Steven McCluskey have both qualified for the Winmau world masters in Hull in October. This will be the second year in a row for Grants worker Steve Robertson who played last year.
The pair had a 100% record in their county games for west Ayrshire helping them secure the Scotland south league title.
Steve Robertson finished top of the Scottish rankings with a 90+ average and will hope to do well. Younger player Steven McCluskey will hope to make a name for himself in his biggest competition to date.
