Aitken is new boss
Steve Aitken new manager rallies his team as they beat Forfar
Stephen Aitken has been confirmed as Stranraer’s new manager.
And he got his new era off to a flying start on Saturday when he guided the Stair Park club to a thumping good win over Forfar Athletic.
The Blues were comfortable 4-1 winners over the Angus team as the new boss took charge.
Aitken made his presence felt with a number of changes to the line-up and formation as he sought to impose his influence,
Stranraer FC announced Aitken was taking over as manager immediately after the victory. The new manager met committee members after the game, when he agreed to accept the position.
A statement from the club said: “The committee are sure that Stephen will be a popular choice given he has already got a lengthy connection with and affinity for the club, having played more than 200 games for the club and served as assistant manager since March 2009.
“Stephen presented the committee with a clear vision of his plans for both the short term and the long term and we sincerely believe that with his ambition and ideas that the club is poised for a successful future with him at the helm.”
Aitken, who replaces Keith Knox who was sacked after a poor run of results, is fully qualified up to the level of a UEFA A class licence.
