The National 50 mile Time Trial Championship was the big event of the weekend as 70 Scottish cyclists made the journey to Ayrshire for this illustrious race, including five members from Ayr Roads - Harry Fairbairn BMW - Sprockets.com.

The course ran between Kilwinning, Troon and Kilmarnock, using a combination of the A78 and A71 road network. Favorable conditions with light winds ensured that some fast times would be posted throughout the morning, with many personal bests attained.

In the mens event, Silas Goldsworthy took the Gold medal with a stunning time of 1 hour and 43 minutes, equating to an average speed of over 29 miles per hour. Brian Nicol was Ayr Roads CC highest finisher in 31st place with a time of 2 hours and 1 minute.

In the ladies race, the Gold medal was shared by Lynsey Curran of Dooleys Cycles and Andrea Pogson of Gala Cycling Club who both remarkably finished in a time of 2 hours and 2 minutes. Toni McIntosh secured the Bronze medal for Ayr Roads CC with a fantastic time of 2 hours and 3 minutes, with Lynne Wardrop taking a well earned 5th place with 2 hours and 6 minutes.

The combination of these two times gave the Ayr Roads ladies the Gold medal in the team competition, and also broke the long standing Scottish National 50 mile team record.
