The biggest event of the weekend for Scottish cyclists was the National Road Race Championships, which was held in Alford, Aberdeenshire for the second year running.
The allure of winning a National jersey attracts the most talented riders from far and wide to compete for the distinguished honour.
Ayr Roads - Harry Fairbairn BMW - Sprockets.com were represented in the womens race by Lynne Wardrop. A blustery day would mean a hard shift for the racers over the exposed 54 mile course, with attacking moves and aggressive tactics from the very start of the race. 1st place went to Jane Barr of Starley Primal Pro Racing team, with Lynne Wardrop battling to an impressive 12th position in a field containing some well known names.
Sunday saw five riders from Ayr Roads take to the start line at Eglington Park for the Bill Moore Memorial 10 Mile Time Trial. Paisley Velo Race Team continued their dominance of this years time trial events with a full podium, with Chris Smart posting the winning time of 20 minutes and 34 seconds. Kenny Armstrong was Ayr Roads highest placed entrant, finishing in 11th place, followed closely by Alastair McGibbon in 12th position. Lynne Wardrop continued her excellent form by taking 3rd place in the ladies event.
