The Scottish National 25 mile Time Trial championship was the weekend highlight for Scotlands top cyclists.
This event, organized and promoted by Ayr Roads - Harry Fairbairn BMW - Sprockets.com, saw over 150 competitors assemble in Ayrshire to compete for a coveted national medal.
Favourable weather conditions ensured that some impressive times would be on the cards for the participants who took to the start line on the A78 course. Iain Grant of Dooleys Cycles took top honour in the mens event, with a fantastic time of 50:46, equating to an average speed of almost 30 miles per hour over the 25 miles. The ladies prize was won by Anna Turvey of Tyneside Vagabonds CC in a time of 56:11. Ayr Roads CC enjoyed an all round successful day with rider Toni MacIntosh securing the silver medal in the ladies competition. Fellow club member Lynne Wardrop took fourth place, which gave Toni and Lynne the gold medal in the ladies team event.
Round three of the Dumfries TLI Criterium series took place at Chrichton Campus on Thursday evening, with Ayr Roads rider Kenny Mackay taking a hard fought 7th place in the hotly contested, fast paced event. Kenny secured ten points for his placing, which takes his series tally after 3 rounds to 26 points and leaves him currently residing in fourth place overall.
