BrunstoN Castle’s Frank Murdoch marches on in the Champion of Champions

  • by Chris McDade

The big news from Brunston this past week was our club champion, Frank Murdoch, winning his tie in the Champion of Champions competition. He safely made his way to the next round of the competition with a 6&5 victory over Robin McCaig from West Kilbride. Best of luck in the next round Frank.

Sadly, the news was not so good for the five man team who lost their match against Loudoun Gowf Club by three and a half points to one and a half points.

“Dad’s Army” had a good turnout for their first competition of the year on Monday the 7th of April, with Sam Cochrane winning with a score of 40. That was no mean feat considering the windy conditions and even more the hilarity he had to concentrate through. Those who know the “Dad’s Army” group will know exactly what I mean!

The weather continues to be a thorn in the side of the Saturday golfers, with only three brave men finishing the Saturday medal on the 5th of April. Hats off to those of you who braved the weather - I’m glad I didn’t have to play in that! Congratulations to George Scobie who had both the lowest scratch and nett scores.

The ladies’ medal on Wednesday the 9th of April had much better weather than the men’s. Well done to Helena Menhinick who won with a nett score of 72.
