Not the most pleasant of days greeted over 240 runners for the Scottish Veteran Harriers Club Road Relays last Sunday morning at Strathclyde Park.
The event saw local runner Kerry-Liam Wilson competing in his first race of the year and just like last year it was a successful outing when the Scottish Masters Internationalist helped Team Cambuslang to first place.
Kerry-Liam was pushed all the way by the Kirkintilloch Olympians and Irvine AC but in the end Team Cambuslang took control on the last leg and came home 46 seconds clear to retain the title.
Greg Hastie, out on leg one, took a tumble after losing his footing on one of the sharp bends but got back up and came home in eighth place running in 21:21.
Handing over to John MacNamara he came home two places to the good (20:34) and then it was Kerry-Liam’s turn and he managed to take the team to second place (18:45) leaving Robert Gilroy a deficit of just 11 seconds to reign back in and did so with the fastest lap of the day (18:17) to give Team Cambuslang the title.
More success for the club when the M50 team retained their title from last year too!
