THE flat season at Ayr Racecourse gets under way later this month with the Spring Raceday on May 30, followed by Blue Square Raceday a day later.

The opening day’s action is due off at 2.10pm with a six-furlong maiden for two-year-olds, which should feature some promising juveniles.

The feature race of the day is a five-furlong handicap with £10,300 in prizemoney and the final race, an apprentice handicap, is at 5.10 pm.

Blue Square Raceday also begins at 2.10pm, with a five-furlong maiden and ends at 5.25 pm with a seven-furlong handicap. Both days feature seven races.

There are 16 meetings scheduled for the flat season at Ayr, with the highlight being the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival from Thursday, September 20 to Saturday September 22.

The final meeting of the season is the Giles Insurance Raceday on Thursday, October 11.
