New youth team for Girvan footballers

Girvan Youth football team, with the help of Ayr United, are hoping to set up more youth teams in the town starting with the McDonalds programme.

The programme is about getting parents and children to help start up an Under sevens/under eights (2005s/2006s) Girvan Youth team. Both boys and girls are welcome.

Ayr United Football Academy (AUFA) deliver one-off football sessions in schools. Once this has been done, AUFA deliver a one-off taster session outwith school and offer a five-week programme outwith school aiming to set up new 2005 and 2006 teams for Girvan Youth.

AUFA are currently in schools promoting the new Girvan 2005 and 2006 team. AUFA will be delivering in Girvan PS, Sacred Heart PS, Ballantrae PS and Maidens PS. Other relevant schools will be given posters and flyers to promote the programme.

The taster session is tonight (Wednesday March 20) from 6–7pm at Girvan Academy Gym Hall. There will be a cost of £2 per child for this session (please note this goes towards hire of facility and future costs for the team).

The five-week programme will begin on March 27 at Girvan Academy Gym hall from 6–7pm.

Parents will be asked to observe the sessions and have a think if they would like to be part of taking a team. Call 01292 263435 (option 2) for more details.
