Steve Robertson of Athletic Tavern B was crowned masters champion in the Victory Bar on Monday night.
After qualifying as top seed he lived up to the billing playing his way into the final and defeating fellow west Ayrshire county teammate James Auld in a thrilling final.
Victory Bar’s Alan McDowall and Athletic A player Jim McCulloch were the losing semi-finalists. Throughout the season the players in the league get points for 180s, high checkouts and low dart legs then the top 32 are seeded for the masters knockout competition.
The next 32 are in the players championship which was played last Monday night and won by young Richard Skilling of the Hammy, defeating teammate Liam Wright in the final - losing semi-finalists were Sean Auld and Alan Porter.
Next Monday it’s back to team business and the Samuel Clark cup first round. This cup is a two-legged affair with a double start. The Vaults won their prelim tie agaist Kings of Barr.
The league is still looking for a sponsor for this cup - if any one would like to help out please contact Kevin on 07864566198.
The league would like to thank the Victory Bar and Vaults for putting up the prize money for the masters and players championships and to William Hill, Jack’s Gym, Flaboulous, Harbour chippy and Bio-hazard for donating prizes for the masters and to Kevin Taylor for donating five bottles of Grants Whisky.
