Under 13s coast to victory

Southside Under 13s FC 3

Girvan Youth Under 13s 9

Girvan Youth Under 13s in their first season as an 11-a-side team, under the management of James Dorans and Danny McCulloch, coached by Michael Sandilands, Kenny Warnock, Scott Poole and Jason Rennie made a fine start to the season last Saturday.

The Girvan side opened the scoring after only four minutes when Callum Skilling cutely back headed the ball into the net from a Kai Poole cross.

Their lead did not last very long though as the home team drew level three minutes later after a goalmouth stramash which ended with their striker poking the ball home from two yards.

However, Girvan Youth were soon back in the lead when Kai Poole fired home from ten yards, followed quickly by another goal from Sean Millarvie.

Girvan extended their lead on the stroke of half time when Morgan Orr finished off a fine move from the young team to give them a comfortable lead at the break.

The away side started the second half with the same style they finished the first with another couple of quick goals to put them on easy street. Declan Clark chipped over the head of the Southside keeper before Greg McCartney made it seven with a neat finish from eight yards.

The home side continued to play decent football and their heads never went down to their credit. They pulled one back with fifteen minutes left before a bullet header from Declan Clark restored the five goal cushion for Girvan.

The home side pulled another goal back with three minutes left before Girvan’s Kai Poole rounded off the scoring with his second and Girvan’s ninth of the game.

This was a good start to the lads first season at eleven a side as they strolled into the next round of the cup.
