He has been helped in his bid by William Grants and Sons and the Hamilton Arms pub in Girvan who have both sponsored him to the tune of £200.

The 40 year old qualified for these events through his 89.3 three dart average for the West of Ayrshire which was the third best in Scotland and 16th best in the whole of the UK.

Five years ago Steven also qualified for these events and was only one win away from the televised stages and he fancies his chances of going further this time around.

Steven plays for the Athletic Tavern A team in Girvan on a Monday night and for the Corner Pocket in Maybole in the Ayr league on a Tuesday night.

And he is delighted that these sponsors have been so kind to sponsor him and thanks everyone for their hard effort in making this happen.
