Maybole take derby day honours in west cup match

It was not a good day at the office for Girvan Football Club as they took on Maybole in the west of Scotland Cup.

A lack lustre first half from away side Girvan saw the teams go in 0 - 0 at half time.

Girvan manager, peter Leonard had left Robert Patterson and Tony Murphy out of the squad and this was a good opportunity for other players to claim a jersey but the flat performance continued and Peter had seen enough and made a triple substitution.

This seemed to help Girvan as they started to push forward but ironically it was Maybole who took the lead after poor defending.

Maybole increased their lead after catching Girvan on the break.

Girvan had the ball in the net after a long-range strike was heading for goal and a Girvan player poked it home but the referee gave offside.

Maybole saw the game out and deserved their win.
