A new Scottish record for Girvan’s Andrew Murphy

A Girvan based athletes has broken an age group points record, a record that’s stood almost as long as the athlete has lived.

That athlete, Andrew Murphy was competing at the Scottish Athletics Senior Mens combined events championships at the Emirates Arena, Glasgow.

With entries from Scotland, England, Wales and Iceland, Day 1 saw Andrew compete in the 60m = 7.32s (PB), long jump = 6.85m (PB), shot put = 12.39m and finishing off the day with the high jump =1.93m. No rest for Andrew as Day 2 brought the 60m hurdles = 8.40s (PB), pole vault = 4.77m and 1000m = 2:50.77. Overall 5402 points which was that Scottish Native record which was held for over 20 years giving Andrew second overall.
