Primary team cup defeat

Earlier this month Girvan Primary played Struthers Primary at Hamilton Park in the second round of the Mackie Cup.

Unfortunately in a one-sided match the result was 9-2 to Struthers. The visitors showed their superiority straight off by scoring three goals in quick succession before Girvan even had a chance to warm up. Calum McDowall saved Girvan’s blushes by replying soon after but the visitors scored again to make it 4-1 at half time.

Player of the match Honor Stewart-Fairbairn pulled a goal back for Girvan but this just seemed to annoy the visitors who replied with more goals to put the game well beyond Girvan.

Although the hosts did have some good link up play between defence and midfield all too often Struthers resilient defence snuffed out any scoring chances. Well done to Jack Kiltie and Alexander Ingram who played their debuts.
