Two Carrick Academy rugby sides emerged triumphant from a recent school trip to tackle their Lenzie counterparts.

The S1 team from the Maybole school enjoyed a 34-9 win in a good performance with the teams captain Ward leading by example by racking up the tries.

However, Carrick didn’t have it all their own way though as even with minutes to go Lenzie kept fighting and scored a well worked try by cutting through the Carrick defence.

There was no real time for a comeback though and Carrick won by 34-9 with Ward and Thompson giving the boys from Maybole the direction they needed to gain a very good victory.

The S2 game was much tighter with both teams showing promise. The game continued like this throughout with Carrick slowly taking hold of the game to win 21 -11. Excellent performances from Ewan McDonald, Keelan McCartney and Finlay Brown alongside a good team effort from the whole squad allowed Carrick to gain another notable victory.

The S3 team were aiming to make it a hat-trick of wins for Carrick and they came into the match off two fine victories against St Columba’s and Jordanhill in previous weeks.

However, they found Lenzie on top form losing by 7-29. The boys started well and scored a fine try however they found themselves 7-10 down at HT and had no answer to a fine second half performance from Lenzie. However it should be noted that the boys never gave up.
