girvan have began their squad cutting with three faces from their fourth-placed squad already out the door.
Goalkeepers Stuart Leavy and Keith Ross and midfielder Tony Murphy have left Hamilton Park, with one or two others expected to follow as manager Brian McLuckie rebuilds for another crack at promotion next season.
Leavy and Murphy will play at Troon’s Portland Park, while Ross is expected to complete his move to Super League Premier Division runners-up Arthurlie this week. But his former club, Beith, are rumoured to be ready to offer him a return to Bellsdale.
McLuckie has already identified Troon stopper Darren Johnstone as a replacement for Ross and Leavy and the Gazette understands talks are in place between the player and club to sort a deal out. Johnstone was at loan at Girvan three seasons ago from Ayr United before moving to Troon.
The Hamilton Park side could also sign Aaron Connolly on a permanent deal after the forward was released by Ayr United.
Club chairman Tam McCreadie said: “There’s a number of calls going back and forward as Brian knows who he wants to bring in.
“We’ve also had the damaged wall repaired and I’d like to thank Davie Fisher and Jim Bryden for their work rebuilding it.”
