The 2 Pins Company are urging people to join them on a walk for Children in Need next month.
Last week the BBC’s Countryfile programme announced their plans to have communities round the UK join them in a sponsored ramble for the charity.
Chair of the 2Pins company Peter Walker was watching the September 13 edition of the show and put plans for a walk into action. He is inviting anyone interested to join a sponsored walk up to the Glake Stane on Sunday 11 October.
The walk will start and finish at the 2 Pins site in Pinwherry Main Street and start at 2pm with all sponsorship money raised going to Children In Need.
The Glake Stane dates back to 4000 BC and is in direct line with Knockdolian Hill and Ireland, with settlers who came from Ireland to Scotland able to tell the time and season by the shadows and markings on the stone.
Upon reaching the Glake Stane you will be treated to great views across the Stinchar Valley and the surrounding hills.
The walk will be around three miles in total and chairman Peter Walker assures that it can be managed comfortably by all.
Sponsorship forms can be obtained from the Carrick Gazette office, Adventure Centre for Education (who are based in the Girvan Townhouse, Knockcushan Street), Ayrshire Motorpart in Girvan’s Henrietta Street, Suzanne’s stores in Barrhill or from the 2Pins website: www.2pins.org.uk
