Sacred Heart Primary School’s parent council are having a bingo night on Friday 7th November in the Catholic Hall from 7pm-9pm. Costs 50p. Tea/coffee available and there will be a raffle. All welcome.
Girvan North Parish Church are holding a Christmas Fayre on Saturday 15th November from 2pm-4pm. Bargains galore with entry costing only £2. Tearoom will be open. Children welcome.
The latest prize winning numbers in the fundraising efforts for the new swimming pool and leisure centre were won by Numbers 141 and 102, winning £25 and £10 respectively.
No new 50-50 members are being accepted at the present time but the prize money will still be paid out every month. Look out for your chance to join next year.
Living With Leisure
We are looking forward to a visit by Mr Douglas Brown on Monday,3rd November to talk about “The History of Laurel and Hardy films”. If you are over 50, feel free to join us in the Community Centre, Dalrymple Street, doors open at 1.30p.m. for start at 2p.m. After the presentation there will be time for a chat with friends old and new over coffee.
Girls will get a chance to showcase their theatrical talents in this season’s Girvan Musical Society production of Annie the Musical.
Auditions for the orphan girls, including the starring role of Annie, for the Society’s production of a theatrical classic will be held on Sunday, November 9th during the afternoon at Girvan’s South Parish Halls.
Society Secretary Barbara Sloan said: “We’ve sent letters to all the Primary Schools and both Academies in the Carrick area looking for 8 to 14 year old girls who would be interested in taking part in our production and committing their time for the next several months. The girls, accompanied by a responsible adult, will be provided an audition time during the afternoon where photos and personal details will be taken.”
“For those dozen or so selected, rehearsals will commence after the new year with a schedule of weekly sessions until the show week of March 23rd when performances will be held over six nights.”

Girvan Rotary met on the 14th October and welcomed along a new member. Members were treated to a talk by Councillor Alec Clark who gave an insight into life within South Ayrshire Council. He praised many groups across Carrick for the work they do in the community whilst also detailing some of the good and bad decisions he felt the council have made. Rotarians commented that his enthusiasm was clear to see.
Ballantrae Parish Church will be having a communion service on Sunday 2nd November at 11.30am. All welcome.
Services of Communion will be celebrated in St Colmon Church in Colmonell on Sunday 2nd November at 10am and at 3pm in the Kirk Hall. Refreshments are served after all services.
“Sunday at 7” is an evening of contemporary worship led by Spearhead with keyboard, drums and singing. All are welcome to Ballantrae Church on Sunday 2nd November at 7pm and refreshments are served after the service.”
All members and non-members are welcome to attend the prizegiving evening on Saturday 1st November at the bowling club at 7pm. There will be a raffle and food arrangements as per closing day.
Ayr Rugby club are hosting a bonfire and fireworks on Friday 7th November.
The bonfire will start at approximately 7.30pm and the fireworks at around 8pm.
A tuck shop will be open selling burgers, hotdogs etc and there will also be stalls selling lots of different items.
For the kids, there will be rides to keep them entertained.
Organisers stress this is a safe venue so families are more than welcome.
£5 entry for adults with children under 5 getting in for free.
