Maybole Historical Society’s next meeting will be held in the Lesser Town Hall on Monday September 1 at 7.30 pm.

Ballantrae & District Horticultural Society. is to hold its annual flower show on Saturday 30th August in the village hall, Main Street, Ballantrae at 2pm. Entries between 6.30pm - 8.30 pm on Friday, 29th August. All exhibits to be staged by 9.45am and the hall will close at 9.45 am to enable judging to take place at 10am.
Our first meeting of the new season - Sweet Bites - A Cookery Demonstration - will be held in the Community Hall, Ballantrae on Monday 1st September at 7:15 pm.
The Institute would be delighted to welcome anyone who would like to join us. Our meetings are usually held on the first Monday of the month and a lively programme is already in place, featuring a Fashion Show in October and a talk on Healthy Living in November. Colmonell Curling Club is getting organised for the coming season.

A barn dance in aid of Ayrshire Sands Stillbirth and Neonatal charity, Crosshouse Hospital will take place at Traboyack Farm, Barr from 7pm-12.30am on Saturday, August 30. Since 2009 Tracey and Alex Wright have organised the annual barn dances at the farm and have raised over £27,000 for the charity so far.
With this money they have been able to help Sands buy a cold cot, removate a family room for bereaved parents, name plaques for graves and ultra-sound equipment.

Beavers, boys and girls aged 6-8 starting Monday, August 25, 6-7pm, later moving to Fridays; cubs, boys and girls aged 8-10 years, starting Monday, August 25, 6-7pm and scouts, boys and girls aged 10-14 years starting Tuesday, August 25 6.45-9pm.
On Sunday, August 24 the Garden Safari will run from 2-5pm. Maps of the gardens will be on sale on the day from Dunlop’s Newsagent and South Parish church. The church will be selling tickets from 10.45am-noon and 1.30-3pm.
Each garden will be identified by posters and maps will also be on sale too for £2 per person, with children free.
Each garden will have a different event: teas, plant sales, cake sales and competition.
Girvan Community Garden is looking for volunteers to help create a garden for patients and visitors as part of its new Green Gym sessions.
Members will be there every Thursday from 11am. No experience is necessary as the experts will be on hand to help all volunteers. Projects include planting up the raised bed, creating extra growing spaces with containers and generally enhancing the area to become a pleasant and peaceful place for patients to sit and relax.

The Green Gym sessions at the Community Hospital will run until March 2015.
