Girvan Historical Society is to meet in the McKechnie Institute, Dalrymple Street, Girvan on Tuesday, February 23 at 7.30pm in a change from Thursday, February 25 as advertised.
David Warrington who is the Resident Astronomer at the Scottish Dark Skies Observatory will present a talk titled “A Brief History of Astronomy”.
This talk will cover the development of astronomy in three ways - the use of naked eye, the telescope revolution, and the early emergence of astrophotography. People have been looking up to the night sky for thousands of years, and observations of the universe have shaped our knowledge and culture throughout history, and as a result have sought to gain a greater understanding of the cosmos.
Entrance £1 for Members and £2 for visitors, includes a cup of tea and a biscuit. All interested parties are made most welcome, so please come and join us for an excellent evening’s entertainment.
