Kayleigh Haggo from South Ayrshire, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Unsung Hero category for the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2017 for her heroic hard work and incredible achievements.
Kayleigh, 18, has a form of cerebral palsy and established herself as a sports superstar after winning three golds in the European Paralympic Youth Games. The inspirational sports star set 13 world records and four national age group records in swimming, race running and club throw sports.
Kayleigh has inspired many others in the Ayrshire community. The teenager, who is busy training for the Paralympic games in Tokyo 2020, is an Active Schools volunteer and helps out at her local primary school, providing multi-sports sessions. The 18-year old is also busy studying for an HNC in sports coaching at college and continues to inspire young people to follow their dreams.
Now in its twelfth year, the Awards will celebrate contributions and work across health, community, the arts and diversity. The winners will be announced at the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow on 27 April 2017.
