Are you interested in your own language? Would you like to find out more about guid auld Scots in an entertaining way?
Then come to the next Maybole HIstorical Society night on Monday 5th December in Maybole Town Hall. The Society is pleased to host Professor Fred Freeman for a special event to mark St Andrews Night.
He will give a light, entertaining and musical introduction to the Scots language, using examples from many traditional Scots songs – handouts will enable the audience to take part. He will also briefly explore the history of Scots and the mix of languages that have contributed to its unique vocabulary and idioms.
Professor Freeman is currently Visiting Professor of Scottish Music at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and we are delighted to welcome him to South Carrick.
Seasonal refreshments will be served at the beginning of the evening, from 7:00pm, with the session starting at 7:30pm. Non-members are specially welcome for the evening at the bargain price of only £2.
