SIX “special needs” houses are in store for Ayr just a month after Ayrshire Housing announced eight new homes for Dailly.
The two one-bedroomed properties and four two-bedroomed homes are to be situated in the Forehill neighbourhood of Ayr, between Glennconner and Glenriddel Roads on the former SSHA Forehill estate now managed by Ayrshire Housing.
Ayrshire Housing director Jim Whiston explained that the land has been freed up as a result of the association’s new ‘light touch’ approach to developing some of the open spaces in its managed estates.
“We believe that some can accommodate smaller houses suitable for the disabled whilst still respecting the character of these attractive 1950s estates,” he said.
“Our aim is to create visual interest through attractive buildings coupled with significant landscape enhancement.”
The six properties will alleviate at least a few of the 2500 households currently on their Ayrshire Housing waiting list for Ayr, 300 of whom require a “special needs” house
