GIRVAN guitarist Preston Reed is to play a rare gig in his hometown during a tour which has already seen him take in such diverse places as Singapore and Dublin.

Originally from New York, Preston tweaks his nose at musical convention with a unique style.

With blurred hands he taps, tickles, slaps and soothes his instrument, fusing polyrhythmic percussion with emotive melody to create his own sonic landscape.

So far this year Preston has played dates in Ireland, Singapore with Sungha Jung and the Green Gold Acoustic Guitar Festival in Zagreb, Croatia.

This is a rare opportunity to see the man in action right here in the south west.

Preston Reed plays the North Parish Church Girvan on July 26 at 8pm.

Tickets Available from The Sweetie Shop or online; £10/£8 concession in advance, £12 on the door. Under 18s £5; Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult
