Award-winning Scots DJ Robin Galloway today (Monday) kicked off his new breakfast show on West Sound.
The station’s Conner Gillies, Anthony Bushfield, Vicky Wallace and Frenchie along with Galloway, one of Scotland’s best-known and highly regarded presenters, launched the new landmark breakfast show on the West Sound airwaves at 6am this morning.
The weekday show, introduced by Bauer Media Scotland as part of its audience growth plans, will combine local news, sport, traffic & travel and “what’s on“ information with fun features, pitting Ayrshire listeners against those of other regions in a friendly, running battle for local pride.
West Sound traffic & travel reporter Martin ‘Frenchie’ Peterson said: “We’re all tremendously excited to be part of the new Robin Galloway Breakfast Show on West Sound. It’s the perfect balance of local and national content and the ideal way for listeners from across Ayrshire and the South West to kick-start their days.”
Galloway, who can also be heard on West FM with his weekly Galloway Sunday show, added: “I’m chuffed to get the new show underway and to be working so closely with the talented team at West Sound. With this return to a breakfast show slot, I really feel that I have returned to my roots.
“Presenting breakfast may involve a 4.30am rise but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a great challenge to try to encourage people of all ages to continue to tune in to the radio but I’m confident our show will provide every reason for them to do just that.”
The show is part of Bauer Media’s plans to bring the very best programming and content to audiences across the whole of Scotland, whilst also retaining, producing and broadcasting local news, sport, traffic & travel and “what’s on“ information from each of the local stations it serves; West Sound, Tay AM, Forth 2, Clyde 2 and Northsound 2.
Brenda Ritchie, Station Director for West Sound said: “It was a joy to hear Robin and our team at West Sound get the new show off to such a flying start. Our investment in the Robin Galloway Breakfast Show is a statement of our ambitions to grow audience share in the region and with such a great mix of local content, unique entertainment and quality music we are confident it will really make its mark.”
In addition to the exciting new breakfast show, West Sound is increasing its specialist music output, by introducing a daily themed show every weekday at 7pm; plus extending its tailored and curated weekend specialist shows.
A new two-hour Scotland-wide topical talk show is also launching on Sunday mornings focusing on the issues affecting Scotland, such as the independence referendum. This stimulating show will be hosted by Ally Bally, with input from Bauer Media Scotland’s news teams as well as political Editor Colin McKay.
