THE LATEST batch of emerging Scottish talent set to flaunt their promise at this year’s Wickerman Festival have been announced.
New wave rock band Vukovi will headline the festival’s Solus tent on the Friday, while Saturday’s lead act will be tech-electro trio Roman Nose.
They will be joined by Fat Goth, TeKlo, Woodenbox, Siobhan Wilson, Vigo Thieves and Fake Major, as well as other rising stars.
Summer 2013 will mark Wickerman’s 12th birthday, and the fresh young talent strutting their stuff at Solus will join confirmed headliners including Primal Scream, KT Tunstall, Amy Macdonald, and The Enemy, Dexys (formerly Dexy’s Midnight Runners).
The Wickerman Festival has built a reputation as one of the finest platforms for showcasing emerging Scottish talent, and this year is no different as a host of the hottest new musicians join its Solus tent line-up.
Other line-up additions include alt-folk sextet Woodenbox and Dundonian three-piece Fat Goth.
Chay Woodman, Wickerman’s Solus tent booker, said: “It’s truly impossible to predict what will happen in Scottish music and I like to think that maybe our wee stage at the top of the hill with the strange name works best when that unpredictable element is in full effect.”
The two-day Wickerman Festival, held in Dundrennan, Dumfries and Galloway, will once again come to its legendary and spectacular climax with the Saturday night lighting of the Wickerman, followed by a promise to keep the Wickerman party stoked into the early hours.
This year’s event will take place from July 26-27. For more information or to buy tickets online visit the Wickerman website.
