Stars come out to help text Santa

This Friday on ITV many of the programmes have a Text Santa look about them as they build up to the main Text Santa programme of the day at eight o’clock.

This three hour show will be hosted by three different celebrity couples – Ant and Dec; Philip Scofield and Christine Bleakley and Paddy McGuinness and Alesha Dixon.

There will be a number of special guests dropping in throughout the evening including Simon Cowell, Carey Mulligan, Olly Murs, Ben Haenow, and Brenda Blethyn.

One of the highlights will be a special mini episode of Downton Abbey which will feature appearances by George Clooney and Joanna Lumley. Cast members of Coronation Street will be receiving a visit from Mel B while some of the cast of Emmerdale will also be participating in a special item. There will also be special mini versions of Saturday Night Takeaway, Birds of a Feather and The Cube. There will be a choir featuring past contestants from It’s a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. Philip Scofield has been heavily involved in this year’s Text Santa appeal having already completed a twenty four hour television presenting marathon beginning on the first of December.

On Friday viewers will get to see a film of him going to the top of the Shard. Once again all this activity is to raise funds for six charities. This year the charities are – Alzheimer’s Society; Guide Dogs; Marie Curie Cancer Care; Teenage Cancer Trust; Together for Short Lives; and WellChild. Each of them will receive a sixth of the total amount raised. Viewers can purchase special merchandise or they can donate via text, telephone or online. Hopefully a large amount of money will be raised for good causes.
