Girvan & District Flower Club
The final Demonstration of the Season takes place in a Girvan Community Centre on Wednesday 25th May, this incorporates the AGM at 7pm. The Demonstrator is Irene Parker who is On Tour from Hexham, her chosen Title is “Colour on Contrast” Irene previously visited the Club in 2010 and we look forward to her return. Visitors (£4) are always welcome to join in Club activities.
Friday 6th May was National Flower Arrangement Day, this coincided with SAFAS Diamond Anniversary, and in celebration and by kind permission of local Dentist Tanu Sharma, Club Members displayed arrangements in their window over the weekend, at the close of the event on Sunday afternoon the arrangements were handed out to delighted passers by.
The closing event of the Season is the Annual Coffee Evening on Wednesday 22nd June at 7p.m. Donations for the Tombola Stall will be gratefully received by the committee, details of events can be found on website www.gadfc.co.uk
Girvan South Parish Church annual summer fete will be on Saturday 4th June, 2016.
We will commence at 1pm with our hot food stall selling hot dogs and rolls & sausage etc. Followed by our famous teas starting at 2pm to 4 pm with tickets on sale now at £3 each.
Wellie Throwing will be at 2.30 and all our usual stalls – plants, books gifts, white elephant, face painting, toys and home baking will be ongoing from 2pm. Come along and join in the fun. You might even get the bargain you have been looking for! See you there!
A competition for companion dogs will be held at the South Parish Halls Girvan on Saturday 4 June at 3pm Prizes are donated by the Girvan Pet Shop and are for the following Categories:
1. Best Puppy - 6 to 12 months; 2. Best Junior - 12 to 24 months 3. Best intermediate - over 24 months; 4. Best Veteran over 8 years and finally Best In Show.
There is £1 entry for each category and please make sure all dogs are on their leads. The show is part of the Summer Fete which starts at 1pm with lunch snacks for sale.
Carrick Rural Arts Group is holding a Samba Drumming Project starting on Wednesday 18th May for young people aged 12 to 25 yrs 7-9pm Carrick Buildings Learning Centre, Henrietta street, Girvan
All welcome no need to book just turn up.
Minishant AWI will hold its annual business meeting on Thursday, May 19 at 7.30pm in the IFE wing of Minishant Primary School.
Members are all invited to go along to what will be a short business meeting followed by tea, coffee and cakes as well as the chance of a good blether before they finish for the summer break.

In June come along and discuss a book you have read and make suggestions for books to review next session which starts in September.
Friday, Jun 3 – 3rd Birthday - THE CARRICK SENIORS LUNCH CLUB, 12noon-2pm. All welcome. Enjoy great company over a lovely 2 course lunch with tea/coffee prepared by wonderful volunteers £3pp. Available first Friday each month.
