Craft fair

Pinwherry Craft Fair is on Saturday 18th June from 10am to 3pm with displays of vintage tractors and cars, antique display of local household goods, children’s bouncy castle, burger van and plenty of free car parking and toilets.

Pinwherry Family Bar-B-Q Saturday evening from 6 30 to 11pm food tickets must be purchased in advance contact 01465 841641 or 01465 841215 for tickets. Bring your own drinks, Children’s bouncy castle, ample free car parking and toilets.


Floral art talk

On Tuesday 21st June, 2016 at 7 pm in Girvan South Parish Church Mr. Brian White, a NAFAS Judge and National Demonstrator, will give a talk on how to interpret and stage a flower arrangement following a given theme.

He will explain the Dos and Donts of flower arranging and how to understand a show schedule. This will enable you to enjoy competing or just understanding what you are looking at when viewing arranged flowers following a given instruction.

It will be a very interesting and fun evening with a question and answer session should there be anything you wish to ask that has not been covered. Please come along and join us at this free event. See you there!


Car boot sale

A car boot sale will be held at Lendalfoot Hall on Sunday 31st JULY 2016 at 2pm usual stalls, to book a table call Ann Grieve on 01465 891236.


Food festival

Ballantrae looks forward to its second festival of food and drink this weekend.

This great celebration of great taste takes

place on Sunday 12 June from 11am to 5pm at the harbour in the village.

There is a free shuttle bus service from both Girvan and Stranraer. You can register for express admission and a free eco shopping bag containing a festival programme and a free entry to the prize draw featuring produce from all the stalls.

Malawi Link Group Cream Tea

This annual event will be held in Ballantrae Community Centre on Saturday 18th June from 2.00pm until 4pm.

Cost for adults is £3.00, children free.

Scones with cream/ butter and raspberry jam served in authentic China tea cups with tea or coffee will be served. A variety of books and DVDs are for sale. A sales table with a variety of home baked cakes and produce is available.

Come along and support this worthwhile cause.



Members and friends of Colmonell WRI departed at 8.30am on a lovely sunny morning on Saturday, May 28th to visit the Kelpies and Falkirk.

Passengers were picked up en route and in due course arrived at Helix Park, home to the spectacular Kelpies. The Kelpies stand 30 metres tall and are the world’s largest equine sculptures.

Refreshments were enjoyed in the restaurant and gifts purchased before the party set off for Falkirk. Everyone was at leisure to enjoy the attractions of Falkirk before heading to the Hollybush Inn in the late afternoon for a delicious meal.

The lucky raffle winners were:

1, Jeanette McCulloch; 2, Ann Robertson; 3, Ena Bell; 4, Isobel Hainey

Ann Robertson thanked the courteous lady driver and everyone enjoyed their day out. The party were back in Colmonell at 8.50pm.


A Concert with Dave Brackenridge and live band will be held on Saturday 18th June at 7.30pm in St Colmon Church in Colmonell. Tickets £4 from Girvan Sweetie Shop, at the door on the night or see local posters.”
