Gala day

Daily Gala Day Royal Party this year is; Queen - Sophie Dalton, King - Joshua Dalton, Prince - Arran Lee and Princess - Ava Nelson.

Dailly Gala Crowning will be on 24th of June at War Memorial from 6.30pm and Dailly Gala Day is on 25th of June, parade starts at 11.30am from Hadyard Terrace finishing at Dailly FC football field on road up to Brunston Golf Course where there shall be entertainments and stalls.


Flower Club

The Annual Girvan and District Flower Club Coffee Evening takes place in Girvan Community Centre on Wednesday 22nd June at 7p.m. Tickets £2 are available from Committee members or just come along pay at the door and enjoy a Blether and Coffee with friends and try your luck at the Tombola stall. This is the final event of the season and we look forward to seeing you.

South Parish Church

Girvan South Parish Church are having a talk on Floral Art by National Judge and Demonstrator Mr. Brian White.

This event is in our hall on Tuesday 21st June at 7 pm. Please come along if you are a flower arranger or just interested in flower arranging and hear Brian explain the do’s and don’ts of this craft. He will explain how to interpret and stage a flower arrangement following a given theme. This will enable you to enjoy competing or just understanding what you are looking at when viewing arranged flowers following a given instruction.

This is a free entry “one off” event so please come along and join us. Our next fund raiser will be on August 27th when we will be staging a Floral Art competition with afternoon teas. Not to be missed!

Music on the prom

Girvan Youth Trust would like to thank all who attended our first Music on the Prom on Sunday the 12th June and also for the £607 which was raised on the day for Jordan Kiltie a very special member of our Music on the Prom volunteer team and his family.

The weather and comments received were good to us and we look foward to this Sunday with The Jersey Notes (Frankie Valli and the four seasons tribute band), If it’s raining we will relocate to the Sacred Heart church hall, hope to see you all there #BringingGirvanBack #MusicOnThePromGirvan

Harbour gala

Girvan lifeboat harbour gala is on July 10 this year. Entries are now open for the annual raft race. Dinghies are supplied with four per team and a £10 team donation. For more informatino contact or

Christian Aid

Christian Aid would like to thank everyone for the help and donations received during Christian Aid week.

In Girvan the total raised was £3330.86. There was a charity shop open in the town, collections on the street and envelopes placed in churches.



Ballantrae Gala Party this year is Queen Jenna MacKinnon, King Adam Crawford, Attendants Zoe Stevenson and Jessica Orr and Pages Lewis Mawer and James McIlwraith.

The Football Competition will run from Tuesday, 28th June until the final on Friday 1st July in the recreational field.

The Parade of Floats and Fancy Dress and introduction of the Gala Party will be at 6pm on Friday 1st July in the recreational field. The football final will follow this. If this event has a poor turnout this will be the final year.

Gala Day will take place on Saturday, 2nd July in Recreational Field at 1pm. We have many events planned this year to ensure we have one of the best yet after the Gala hanging in the balance for 2016. So far we have a petting zoo coming with unusual animals, insects, spiders and snakes, a kids activity tent, old fashioned attractions as well as the many attractions we usually have. We are still getting the new ideas in from the younger and older generations so keep an eye out in local press and facebook for details. To book a stall please call Fiona Roper on 01465 831475.

The Family Gala Dance with Music by Destination Anywhere will be in the Community Centre 8pm on Saturday 2nd July. Anyone wanting tickets please phone Sharon on 07798710481 or Fiona on 01465 831475. Limited numbers and this sold out last year so be quick.

The Bowler/Non Bowler will be held on Sunday, 3rd July at Ballantrae Bowling Green at 1pm. Great day for the family.

Ballantrae Gala and other events around South Ayrshire would like to thank Ayrshire LEADER Local Action Group for sponsoring 90% of the cost imposed on us by South Ayrshire Council and therefore enabling us to go ahead for 2016.

Ballantrae Community Association who run the Gala are always happy for new members and new ideas. All welcome to attend meetings and volunteer in helping at our events. Contact Sharon or Fiona on above numbers if interested. Every event we organise is for the whole community from baby’s to our eldest residents. The future depends of new ideas and willing volunteers. A year of planning goes into this event but it is worth it - I promise!!!

Fairknowe House

Residents and staff at Fairknowe House would like to thank everyone who supported them at the Lowland Gathering in Girvan recently where we raised £169 for the residents’ fund.

They would also like to thank everyone who supported them by visiting the tea tent at Maybole Gala where they raised £117.50. A special thank you as well to Sheena Martin and Maureen Grant for their help at the events.
