Ballantrae Church Summer Fair will be held on Saturday 23rd July 2016 at 2pm in the community Centre.

It will be opened by our local Gala Party and we have lots to keep you occupied with baking, teas, plants and produce, tombola, hamper, crafts, bric-a-brac , books and lots of games.

Come along and take part in our annual competition to milk Daisy the Cow!


McKechnie Institute

Learn about the smuggling that went on in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Eavesdrop on the Ballantrae Smugglers as they plan their next delivery of contraband goods from Holland. But who’s that in the corner? It’s the Customs Officer!

His eyes follow your every movement….. Read about the exploits of the Girvan smugglers and the Revenue Officers who tried to stop them.

This (FREE) exhibition for the whole family is on until 16 July and is organised by the Ballantrae Smugglers’ Festival in partnership with The Friends of the McKechnie Institute. Opening times Tues, Thurs & Fri 1pm-4pm; Wed 1.30pm-4.30pm; Sat 10.30am-4pm; Sun and Mon CLOSED.


Real ale event

Saturday 16th July from midday to 9pm, it’s the 2 Pins Real Ale Event by Ayr Brewing Company where people can try different real ales on the 2 Pins Site at Pinwherry.

Families welcome, bouncy castle, plenty of car parking, toilets, hot steak rolls.

There will also be a 30 minute open mic opportunity for local Groups, Musicians, and Entertainers to show people their music and skills to book a place telephone 01465 841215.


Car boot sale

There will be a CAR BOOT SALE on Sunday 31st July at Lendalfoot Hall 2-4pm. To book a table £10. Contact Ann 01465 891236 or Kay 01465 891000.


Scout group

Dailly Scout Group will be holding their next summer whist drive Friday July 15th at the Scout Hall.

Play starts at 7.30pm, all welcome, £1.50 for entry & light supper , raffle on the night too , come along and join in.


Tractor run

Ayrshire Commercial Vintage Vehicle Club is holding a Static Display and Tractor run on Saturday and Sunday, July 9.

There will be a display at Low Green, Ayr on the Saturday from 9am to 12pm followed by at 12pm a parade down Ayr High St.

Vehicles will then follow a route to a Lunch Break at Cumnock at Caponacre Car Park 1pm to 2.30pm Approx.

Vehicles will then follow the route to Portpatrick arriving from 4pm onward.

On the Sunday vehicles leave Portpatrick from 10am onward. Lunch at Wigtown Showground 12.30pm-2pm and return to Low Green Ayr 4pm Approx.

Carrick Centre

Monday Jul 4 to Wednesday, Aug 10 - Summer Youth Programme for ages P1-S1. Various activities for different ages. All sessions have stand-alone themes so you can book as little or as many sessions as you like. Most sessions are FREE or have a small charge. Booking recommended to avoid disappointment. See website for more info. on each event.

Monday - Friday - “NEW” Summer “Quiet Time” Cafe 9.30am – 10.30am. Bring along the papers & relax and enjoy a freshly made tea/ground coffee served with a filled roll of your choice for only £3.

Tuesdays – “NEW” CARRICK TOTS. 10am-11.30am every Tuesday for Pre-school age. Parent/Carer & Toddler Group, a chance to mix & mingle for adults and children. Arts & Crafts, Reading Corner & Soft Play for all children of pre-school age.

Thursday, Jul 7 – SUMMER TIME CHANGE– “Caroline’s Dance Academy” From 1ST Jun to 11th Aug classes will be 3pm-5pm. 3.15pm-4pm (Pre-School). 4pm-5pm (P1-4). Normal times resume 18th August.

Friday, Aug 5 - THE CARRICK SENIORS LUNCH CLUB, 12noon-1.30pm. All welcome. Enjoy great company over a lovely 2 course lunch with tea/coffee prepared by wonderful volunteers £3pp. Available first Friday each month.

Saturday, Aug 6 - CAR BOOT 10am-2pm – Bric-a-Brac, Home-baking & Local Crafters. Come along for a browse or book your space to sell (£5/external, £10/internal). Café & Soft Play open too: 10am - 4.30pm.

Mondays & Fridays. SOUTH AYRSHIRE FOODBANK is in the Centre 10am-12noon. All Donations of non-perishable goods greatly appreciated. There is also a drop off box available in the Centre out with these times.
