SOUTH Ayrshire is truly destined for seventies pop-rock comeback next month as top tribute band T*Rextasy are confirmed for a Gaiety gig.

More than 40 years since Marc Bolan and T Rex stormed the charts with Children of the Revolution, the Ayr theatre, which reopened in December after a near four-year absence from the cultural scene, is to host the foursome as the latest addition to its musical line-up in March.

T*Rextasy’s Ayrshire sojourn – entitled We Love to Boogie, with T*Rextasy – will come just two weeks before fellow seventies celeb Alvin Stardust takes to the stage at Maybole Town Hall – well and truly transporting locals back to the era of quiffs, perms, punk and flares.

T*Rextasy are the only band to have been authorised and endorsed by Marc Bolan’s Catalogue Management, and are officially recognised as the worlds’ No 1 group dedicated to perhaps the greatest glam rocker of them all, Marc Bolan.

TRextasy have been performing around the world for 20 years, a career that ironically outlives Marc’s own T Rex. To book tickets for the March 14 gig, contact the Gaiety Theatre box office on 01292 288235, or visit the Ayr Gaiety website at Tickets are priced at £18.50 (concessions £17.50).
