It is that time again when the television industry turns out to see who has won a set of awards voted on by the general British public.
Unlike some Awards shows, this one is live and is on ITV on Wednesday evening from seven thirty.
There are awards for the best programme or TV personality in categories including Comedy; Serial Drama; Serial Drama Performance; Drama; Drama Performance; Newcomer (all actors); Multichannel Programme; Factual; Chat Show Host; Daytime Programme and Entertainment Presenter.
A long list of potential winners was presented to the public and from that list a short list of four or five potential winners in each of the categories was produced.
Viewers have been voting for their favourites from the short list until Wednesday afternoon. As before the programme will be hosted by Dermot O’Leary who is on one of the shortlists himself. It will be interesting to see which programmes have ended up being the most popular over the past twelve months and whether or not some of the previous winners will be equally successful this time around. One of the most keenly contested categories is the Serial Drama one – will Eastenders win over Coronation Street or will neither of them win this year?
And what about the perennial competition between Strictly Come Dancing and the X Factor - which of these programmes will do well? With the number of times Jeremy Kyle seems to be on at the moment, will his show win the Daytime Programme Award or could it be something else?
And surely there can not be an Awards Show without Ant and Dec winning in at least one category? But you will have to watch the show to find out.
