This Saturday evening sees ITV changing its programme line-up. Its main attraction is the return of Britain’s Got Talent, with the same judging panel as last year, as they endeavour to find an act for this year’s Royal Variety Show. To go alongside BGT, ITV has decided to schedule two new series. Following BGT will be a new comedy sports quiz show, Play to the Whistle, presented by Holly Willoughby and featuring team captains Bradley Walsh and Frank Lampard and comic umpire Seann Walsh. Before BGT at seven o’clock, will be another new game show - Ninja Warrior UK. A similar format has already proved to be very successful in Japan, Malaysia,
Sweden and the U.S.A. Hosted by Ben Shephard, Rochelle Humes and Chris Kamara, 250 people, chosen from 6,000 applicants, will be taking part.
Featuring people from different walks of life, they will have to be at the peak of their physical prowess, as they take part in various challenges needing courage, speed and strength. The Krypton Factor all these years ago, had an obstacle course as one of its rounds. The obstacle course here will be even more difficult. The 8 part series will be in three sections - the Heats, the Semi-Finals and the Final. In the Heats, the 250 competitors will have to overcome 6 obstacles as they strive to get one of the 40 semi-final places. These contestants will then have to deal with 9 obstacles and endeavour to win one of the 10 available places in the Final. The Final will then involve them having to overcome 17 obstacles before having to climb an impressive scaling tower as their final ultimate challenge. It will be interesting to see how many viewers stay the course to the end!
