Billionaire Donald Trump was in South Ayrshire to cut the ribbon on a massive redevelopment of the clubhouse at Turnberry Hotel and golf resort.
It’s only part of a £200m redevelopment of the golf course.
Five new holes and nine new greens will be constructed, all 18 greens will be relaid and the course yardage increased to 7,357.
Trump bought the resort for £36m in 2014 and has spent £10m overhauling the clubhouse in time for the Women’s British Open, which begins on July 30.
Mr Trump said: “I think the end product will be something that there is nothing like anywhere in the world. It’s going to be a very special period of time for everybody but most of all it’s going to be a very special period for Scotland.”
Look out for much more in the Carrick Gazette this week.
