Three S1 Business and IT pupils set up a social enterprise group named “Carrick Stars”, to find out how much money they could make in the month of February to donate to charity.
The all-girl team of Chloe Blackwood, Nakita Buckley and Carly Docherty worked hard, selling valentine’s cards, lucky dip tickets, cupcakes and fortune cookies. They even held a secret bid for a ‘Valentine’s Rose’ which was made and donated by Sean Warbrick.
Over the four weeks, a grand total of £163.20 was raised. Carrick Stars decided to split the proceeds equally between Carrick Academy School Rugby and the PDSA. The girls prepared a PowerPoint for S1 Assembly to share their success and presented cheques to Mr Brown, Carrick Academy Rugby and Ms Wilson from the PDSA. Well done girls!
