The Carrick Centre rang with applause and laughter recently, when local group ‘Hugh and Friends’ had their, now annual, Cameron’s Concert for Yorkhill Children’s Hospital.
They were joined by their usual friends, Ayr Academy Girls’ Choir and talented accordionist Murray Patrick.
Adding to the variety were new “friends” Roddy Johnston and Seonaid Lynn well known on the Edinburgh Folk Scene. Their contribution on the night ranged from bothy ballads to an Argentinian tango.
The organisers would like to thank several local firms who sponsored the event, JM Paterson Plant Hire, Electro Installations, JD Thomson & Son, JD Cameron, Jamieson Plant Hire and Merkland Farm.
The night also involved a highly successful raffle, run by Cameron himself, along with Jackie Gibson and friend Meredith, as well as lucky programmes and “change buckets” shaken by twins Amber and Darcy Gibson which raised the magnificent total of £1,500.
Hugh Paterson gave thanks to everyone who attended, donated and contributed to a very successful night and commented again on the continuous generosity of the community.
