Ayr geared up for the glamour

CHAMPAGNE GH Mumm Ladies Night at Ayr Racecourse on Saturday evening promises to be one of the busiest and best, with top-selling band The Overtones headlining the after-racing entertainment.

The most glamorous evening of the year at Ayr Racecourse looks like attracting more than 7,500 to the track with advance sales ahead of last year’s.

And the added attraction is that some lucky ladies will win a bronze coin that guarantees a place in the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Ladies Day Final on Friday September 16.

Judges on Saturday will be combing the course to see which ladies impress the most and they, in turn, will receive the prized coin. The top prize on Ladies Day is a Vauxhall Corsa Limited Edition courtesy of Kerr & Smith; runners-up prize is a once-in-a-lifetime holiday to Dubai from Stewart Travel; and third prize is a piece of jewellery from designer Alex Cairncross.

Ayr Racecourse Sales and Marketing Manager Lindsey Smith is looking forward to the night and added: “We always attract a good crowd to Champagne GH Mumm Ladies Night and advance sales indicate this year’s will be one of the highest ever. Its a huge attraction having the Overtones, whose album Good Ol’ Fashioned Love has been one of the top sellers of 2011.”

First race is at 5.40 pm. More information at www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk or call 01292 264179.
