The Ballantrae Community Association pulled out all the stops to ensure that Christmas this year was extra special for local children.
A small band of village volunteers organised not one but two parties for the children last Friday evening – the first for toddlers, followed by a second for the over 5s.
As well as music, dancing, competitions, balloon sculpture, face painting, wrist tattooing and games there was lots of party food with some interesting additions of slush puppies and candy floss!
The entertainment was organised by “Talk of the Town” from Stranraer who had previously helped with this year’s Ballantrae Gala day. There’s no doubt the highlight of the parties was the appearance of visitors - Santa Claus, Olaf the Snowman, Elsa the Princess, Minnie Mouse and Woody (from Toy Story). Each child had some time with Santa Claus and received a present. Overall 90 children participated in the parties.
Sharon Robertson, Chair of Ballantrae Community Association said: “Claire Erskine and Stacey Stewart and their small team of volunteers did a fantastic job to plan the programme, decorate the hall and make sure that no detail was overlooked. Everything went without a hitch and the feedback from the children and their parents has been great. Well done!”
