Two villages in Carrick are set to benefit from the roll-out of fibre broadband across Scotland.
Kirkmichael and Dunure will ‘go live’ in the Autumn as the £410m project continues from Digital Scotland and BT’s engineers.
Fibre broadband means that multiple users in a home or business can access the internet at much faster speeds.
Sara Budge, Programme Director for Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband, said: “It is great to be celebrating the first year of deployment of the £410M Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband programme, while announcing that more exchanges will be included, with areas in South Ayrshire such as Dunure being able to connect to fibre broadband for the first time.”
The website www.digitalscotland.co.uk/whereandwhen outlines when fibre broadband connections or additional coverage will be available in areas across Scotland.
It is updated regularly and more Carrick villages are in line to benefit in upcoming years.
